Power is exercised by a person or a group of people in a society through various complex relations either imposed or accepted

Power also implies opposition it can then be limited or resisted

“The essence of Government is power; and power, lodged as it must be in human hands, will ever be liable to abuse.“ James Madison

“The media's the most powerful entity on earth. They have the power to make the innocent guilty and to make the guilty innocent, and that's power. Because they control the minds of the masses.” Malcolm X

    The independence of USA

The declaration of independence was adopted on July 4th 1776 and he was celebrated every year.

The founding fathers stated the obvious: “all men are equal from birth. They have god-given rights that no one can take away from them”.

    The tone is religious.

The black codes became laws in Mississippi in 1865: the law states it is forbidden and non-whites to “intermarry”

Anyone doing so risks being fined or being improned.

The law created institutionalized segregation and was made to discourage people to mix socially.

There is a gap between the ideals of the declaration of independence and reality.
